Sports Chiropractic Care in Whitby

Chiropractic Care that adjusts to your life

Whether you’re training for a marathon, playing weekend hockey, or working through a nagging injury that’s holding back your season, a sports chiropractor looks at more than just where it hurts. At Therapeutic Streams, sports chiropractic care is led by Dr. Ryan, who holds a Doctor of Chiropractic and a Sport Science and Human Performance Certificate from New York Chiropractic College — training built specifically around the relationship between the spine, nervous system, and athletic performance.

It’s that integrated approach that makes us different. We take a holistic approach to your healthcare needs . Read below to learn more.

Who This Is For

  • Weekend athletes and recreational competitors dealing with recurring strain from running, cycling, hockey, soccer, or lifting
  • Athletes recovering from a sports injury who want a faster, more complete return to play — not just pain relief
  • Anyone whose performance has plateaued and suspects a biomechanical limitation rather than a fitness gap
  • Patients already working with our physiotherapy or massage therapy team who want chiropractic care coordinated into the same plan

Your Assessment

Your first visit includes a detailed history of your sport, training load, and injury (past and present), followed by a movement and joint assessment to find where your body is compensating.
From there, Dr. Ryan builds a treatment plan combining chiropractic adjustment with corrective exercise, and — where relevant — coordinates with our physiotherapy and massage therapy team so every part of your care is working toward the same goal instead of three separate plans.

Concussion Care as Part of Sports Chiropractic

Concussion management is part of the sports chiropractic picture for many of our athletes. Dr. Ryan is Shift Concussion Management Level 1 certified, and Dr. Steven holds Level 1 and Level 2 for advanced and complex cases — see our [Concussion Management page] for details on assessment and return-to-sport protocols after a head injury.

Sports Chiropractic FAQ

A sports chiropractor has additional training specific to athletic injuries, biomechanics, and performance — looking beyond the site of pain to the movement patterns that caused it, with treatment built around your sport’s specific demands.

No. Weekend athletes, recreational runners and cyclists, and anyone active enough to develop sport-related strain benefit from the same assessment-first approach.

Sooner is generally better for guiding your recovery correctly from the start, but sports chiropractic care is also effective for injuries that happened months or years ago and never fully resolved.

Yes. Addressing joint restrictions and movement compensations can improve mobility and mechanics even without an active injury — many athletes use it as part of ongoing training support, not just recovery.

Yes — Dr. Ryan and Dr. Steven are both Shift Concussion Management certified. See our Concussion Management page for details.
