Dr. Ryan is a Chiropractor that has specialised in sports science and human performance. Along with providing patients with patient centred care, Dr. Ryan’s main objective is to show patients how they can fix or alleviate pain themselves while also reducing their chances of re-injury. This is not solely done by a single adjustment but a combination of rehab-based exercises and finding every patients floor.
Massage Therapy can be beneficial to people of all ages and for different conditions. It can be used to help obtain relief from many specific problems including:
• Different forms of arthritis and tendinitis
• Stress headaches and migraines
• Repetitive strain injuries
• TMJ
• Pregnancy discomfort
• Chronic pain issues
• Spasms, strains and sprains
• Post surgery rehabilitation
• Circulatory and Respiratory problems
• Depression and anxiety
Massage Therapy is beneficial for individuals of any age including infants straight through to the elderly. The Registered Massage therapist will go through your health history with you to determine whether massage therapy is right for you and what kind of treatment you require.
On the first visit, you will complete a confidential health history. This is important information for the Massage Therapist to be aware of any medical conditions or if you are taking any medications. The Massage Therapist will then develop a treatment plan with you so you can receive proper care to address your needs.
The therapist will then leave the room so that you may undress to your level of comfort and cover yourself on the table. During the treatment, only the part of your body being treated will be uncovered. You will have opportunity during the treatment to give feedback regarding pressure and pain levels.
Yes, Therapeutic Streams direct bills for most insurance companies. However availability greatly depends on your benefits package and insurance company. A doctor’s note may be required for insurance purposes, so we ask most patient to contact their insurance provider to inquire about needing a doctor’s note to be reimbursed. For any insurance companies that do not accept direct billing or the option is unavailable to the patient. A detailed receipt will be given after treatment with the therapists information so you can manually submit the receipt to your insurance company.
Registered Massage Therapy is covered by most extended health care plans. Check your plan to see what is available to you. Salt scrubs and hot stone therapy are covered by most benefit plans because they are forms of hydrotherapy.
Yes, all of our therapists are registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.
Not necessarily, Dr. Ryan believes that adjustments can be important and clinically relevant to patient care but he also takes into consideration that sometimes other mobilities such as: acupuncture, patient specific rehab exercises, cupping and many others may be needed to enhance patient results.
The first appointment will be approximately 1 hour in length where Dr Ryan will complete a full assessment of both new and old injuries. The assessment will include a full neurologic screen of sensory and motor nerves. The physical component will find your athletic floor and the hardest painless action you can do well. This results in your starting point of care. Depending on the degree of severity of the injury or number of areas of concern; a 10-20-minute treatment may be included at the end of this first appointment.
Dr Ryan will assess your needs and concerns and if he thinks a cervical adjustment is needed and beneficial, he will walk you through the entire process. However, not every patient has to get their “neck cracked”.
Dr. Ryan offers both a 30 min treatment session and a 60-minute treatment session. They both provide high quality care but experience has shown that some patient’s and injuries need more time than 30 minutes to both review rehab material and provide hands on care.
